Visual Arts

Welcome to the vibrant world of Visual Art at AVW. At our school the focus is on expression and creativity. We empower our artists to explore, create, experiment and innovate through hands-on experiences and guided teaching. The focus is on students developing their own unique artistic voices, fostering creativity, critical thinking and self expression. We cultivate an environment where students learn to think and act like artists through exploring the process of making art using a wide range of mediums. The students prepare work to exhibit and share and explore a variety of contemporary, traditional and indigenous artists to inspire their work. Performing Arts

Step into the vibrant world of Performing Arts at Ascot Vale West Primary School. 
Every week, all students from Foundation to Year 6 engage in weekly performing arts lessons. Our program places a spotlight on Dance, Drama, and Music, offering students a diverse range of opportunities to develop their performance skills. 
Through hands-on experiences and collaborative projects, students learn the importance of teamwork, dedication, and perseverance in achieving their artistic goals.
Our biennial school concert at the Clocktower Centre serves as the pinnacle of their journey, providing a platform for students to showcase their hard work, dedication, and talents.

Health and Physical Education

The Health and Physical Education program provides knowledge, skills and behaviours that directly impact on physical, mental, social and emotional health and promotes life- long participation in physical activity.

The program incorporates swimming and water safety.

Spanish

At Ascot Vale West Primary School, we believe in fostering a love for languages from an early age. All students from Foundation to Year 6 engage in weekly Spanish lessons.

Our Spanish Language Program brings the variety and richness of the Spanish culture into the classroom, making learning both fun and rewarding. We are very fortunate to have a dedicated Spanish room, well equipped with resources, games, printed materials and a Spanish library that is always available to students.

Through engaging lessons and interactive activities, our Spanish Language Program ignites a passion for language learning, sparking curiosity and creativity. From mastering basic vocabulary and expressions to exploring cultural traditions, our students gain valuable skills that enhance their cognitive development and cultural awareness.

We celebrate our Spanish Language Program biennially with a ‘Spanish Fiesta’. Students get to showcase their language skills through performances, traditional dances, art and delicious cuisine. It is a joyous celebration where learning transcends the classroom, fostering a deep appreciation for global cultures.
