Outside School Hours Care

Camp AustraliaThe school’s Out of School Ours Care is provided by Camp Australia. It is held in a friendly relaxed environment where children can participate in a range of activities.
Times:
Before Care Program
Monday to Friday 7:30 am – 8:45 an on days when the school is open.
After Care Program
Monday to Friday 3:15 pm – 6:00 pm on days when the school is open.
Children should be signed in (before School) and out (after School) in the book provided in the multipurpose room.

Fees:
Fees are available on the Camp Australia Website.
Working parents are eligible for the 5)5 Child Care Rebate on Fees.
Bookings:
Children must be registered with Camp Australia prior to attending the program.
Bookings can be made for either permanent or casual attendance.
Book online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through the Camp Australia website.

Your OSHC – OSHC that inspires
Your OSHC is Camp Australia’s before school, after school and pupil free day program, tailored to the likes and interests of each child in service. Camp Australia’s educators design enriching experiences to inspire your children’s confidence, independence and imagination. In any one week, they could be participating in science experiments, active play, creative expression and more – they believe in learning through experience so that each child can grow.

Uniform
Ascot Vale West Primary School students are expected to wear uniform.
Children may wear any combination of the uniform in any season except that:
- School hats are compulsory when outdoors from 1 September to 1 April.
- Hats must be a wide brimmed hat or a bucket hat. See AVW Sun Smart Policy for more information.
- Bike helmets must be worn correctly while riding a bike or scooter to and from school as required by law.
Uniform Items
- Royal Blue Polo Shirt (Long or short sleeved)
- Black shorts or pants or skort (plain track pants bootleg or cargo pants – no logos)
- Dress or winter skirt/tunic in school colours
- No other colours or logos
- Royal Blue, windcheater or Bomber Jacket with school Logo)
- Royal Blue wide brimmed or Bucket hat or royal blue hijab
- Black enclosed shoes or enclosed sports shoes (that enable children to participate
in vigorous activity such as physical education lessons and play in the playground) - Year 6 Students can purchase a graduation windcheater as part of the school uniform

School Uniforms are available online through PSW
Second hand items are also available to purchase from the school. Just ask at the office.

Lunch Orders
Lunch orders are available Wednesdays, Thursdays & Fridays.
The menu is designed to be tasty, healthy and cost effective, with food supplied by a local café Darling St Espresso.
Lunch orders are placed in the lunch order satchel in the classrooms by 9:15 am and taken to the office to . The orders are filled and returned to the school by 1:30pm, in time for lunch.
Please clearly write the order on a paper or ziplock bag.

Lost Property
It is very important that all items of clothing are clearly labelled with NAME and ROOM No. so that we are able to return them to students quickly.
The Lost property Box is located just outside the Staff Kitchen doorway.
At the end of each term, all items are displayed for collection and unclaimed items are given to charity.
Please discourage children from bring personal property and valuables to school.
Student Attendance & Punctuality
It is very important that once your child commences school, their attendance is regular and punctual.
It is expected that children attend school every day unless they are too sick, injured, have an infectious disease or a genuine reason for absence. The Department of Education requires parents/guardians to provide a verbal or written explanation for absences.

Children who are late for class, even by only a few minutes, have a disrupted start to the day and also interrupt teachers and other students. Students who arrive after the 9:00 am bell will be recorded as late.
If it is necessary to take a child out of school prior to the end of the day, parents are required to fill in the Early Leavers Book at the office before collecting the children.
Absences, lateness and early departures are tracked closely and any unexplained or excessive absences will be followed up.If you are running late to collect your child at the end of the school day or have organised for someone else to collect your child, please contact the office. Your child’s teacher will be informed so that we can let your child know and where needed, make alternative arrangements.
Children should not be in the school yard before 8:45 am or after 3:15 pm unless they are accompanied by an parent/carer or participating in the out-of-school-hours program (see Camp Australia)
